John Ahrens, FSA, MAAA, joined the Hause staff in September 2007. John earned a B.S. in Actuarial Science from Drake University, and has been a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries since 1980 and a Member of the Academy since 1980.
John has enjoyed over 30 years as a group health actuary with very heavy exposure in underwriting and rating. He began his career at Mutual of Omaha, heading Group Actuarial Research, followed by great success at Lincoln National as head of their Group Reinsurance unit. By the age of 30, he was VP and Chief Actuary of a large BC/BS plan. For the last 20 years, John has been a consulting actuary, working with insurers, reinsurers, employers, labor funds and high risk pools. In addition to his extensive experience, John brings a creative, problem-solving approach to each assignment.
