Hause Actuarial Solutions is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to our Actuarial staff. John Ahrens, FSA, MAAA joined the firm in September as one of our Consulting Actuaries, and Katie Lekar started with us in January as our newest Actuarial Assistant.
John earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University, majoring in Actuarial Science, and has been a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries since 1980 as well as a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries since 1980.
John has enjoyed over 30 years as a group health actuary with very heavy exposure in underwriting and rating. He began his career in Fort Wayne, heading Group Actuarial Research, followed by great success as head of a Group Reinsurance unit. By the age of 30, he was VP and Chief Actuary of a large BC/BS plan in Ohio. For the last 20 years, John has been a consulting actuary in Kansas City, working with insurers, reinsurers, employers, labor funds and high risk pools. In addition to his extensive experience, John brings a creative, problem-solving approach to each assignment.
